This ten-day antenna course addresses the key fundamentals of antennas. The course starts with some basic mathematics related to antennas and communications, but thereafter aims to deliver a technical subject in a simplified manner. Students will learn about the underlying principles of EM radiation; capacitance and inductance and their effect on antennas; transmission lines as well as a wide range of antenna terminology. The principles of operation of a variety of antennas will be covered including: dipoles, monopoles, loop, helical, Yagi-Uda, long wire, log periodic,
discone, reflectors, horn, patch, phased arrays and Direction Finding antennas.
