Mercury presented with Silver Award for supporting Armed Forces personnel in workplace

    By Mercury Admin | Mercury News | 0 comment | 20 February, 2018 | 0

Mercury EW Ltd based in Sleaford, Lincolnshire have been presented with a Silver Award for supporting Armed Forces personnel in the workplace.

The presentation was made at the company’s office at Haverholme Park in Sleaford on 9 January 2018 where Tim Stevens and Duncan Mckellar from Mercury EW Ltd received the Ministry of Defence (MOD) Employer Recognition Scheme Silver Award on behalf of their organisation.

To qualify for a Silver Award, the company had signed the Armed Forces Covenant and had shown support for Defence personnel, including ex-Forces and Reservist employees. Through the Armed Forces Covenant, the company has also pledged to support any employees who may be Cadet Force instructors, Armed Forces veterans and military spouses/partners.

‘Mercury EW Ltd are honoured and delighted to receive this ERS silver award on behalf of our organisation. The valuable skills and knowledge that service leavers bring to our company is the key contributor to our growth and success. We are fully committed to advocating the ERS scheme and will continue to support the wider defence community at every opportunity’. Tim Stevens – Managing Director.

John Wilson, the MOD’s Regional Employer Engagement Director for the East Midlands, said: “Mercury EW Ltd was unable to be represented at the regional award ceremony in November and I was delighted to be able to present their award at a more personal and intimate event at their head office in Lincolnshire.

“Reservists and military Service leavers have a vast amount of skills to offer civilian employers, such as the ability to think on their feet to solve problems, manage a team and communicate effectively. Mercury EW Ltd recognise this as they employ a number of veterans and speak highly of the qualities they bring to the business.”

21 public and private sector businesses from around the region received a Silver Award in 2017, with a further 42 businesses also formally having their Silver Awards renewed after continuing to support the Armed Forces community three years on from when they were first presented the accolade.
