Requirement:
A high valued Middle East customer required a ‘refresh’ of its extant telecommunications training courses as part of its major expansion and modernisation programme to provide a nationally recognised training facility.
Virtual College Ltd were contracted to provide the refresh which would integrate Technically Enhanced Learning (TEL) into all current telecommunication courses, enabling both student-centric e-learning and instructor-guided e-learning. Mercury were contracted to provide telecommunications SME support, inclusive of in-country liaison with the customer (and customer’s agent), system knowledge and assurance activities.
Approach:
Mercury provided SME support to Virtual College Ltd on an extensive range of telecommunications subjects including, but not limited to;
- Tropospheric scatter systems
- Satellite communication systems
- Deployable communication nodes
- High frequency systems
- Power systems,
- Staff working environments,
- Secure mobile radio systems and
- Microwave radio systems.
Mercury conducted analysis and information gathering activities through in-country visits and liaison activities to ensure accurate information was provided to meet each course’s Training Objectives.
Frequent face-to-face and online conferences with Virtual College Ltd ensured information was fully comprehended prior to courseware production. Mercury also conducted considerable amounts of Quality Assurance activities, providing technical feedback on all e-learning courseware produced.
Outcome:
The production of technically accurate e-learning courseware was produced by Virtual College Ltd with Mercury support and has been fully accepted by the customer. Successful training delivery activities using the TEL e-learning courseware has already been carried out by the customer.
